The Mountaineer Train Tour has multiple departure stations, please double check your tour itinerary.  

Due to the heritage nature of the carriages, we unfortunately do not have the ability to accommodate fixed wheelchairs or electic wheelchairs or electric scooters or large prams, however collapsible zimmer frames and walkers (and they must be fully collapsible) can be accommodated on board. Passengers using collapsible zimmer frames, or walkers, should have the ability to board the train, unaided.



Only fully collapsible, smaller sized baby strollers, or walkers, can be transported on board the train.

Yes, there are toilets on board the Train.

Light snacks and refreshments are available onboard for purchase. You are  welcome to bring your own food onboard. Some tours offer a 'pre-purchased' lunch box, if you are unsure please contact us.

Cruise Ship Guests will be checked in upon arrival at the platform.  All other tours require Check-in is at least 30-minutes prior to the Trains departure time, at the platform, depending on where you are booked to depart from.

Yes, passengers are welcome to move from car to car.  However, care must be exercised when moving between cars, no bare feet and children must be accompanied by an adult. Passengers wearing sandals (or any shoes that are not properly enclosed) will not be permitted on the viewing balconies of the train. Standing on the gangways between carriages is not allowed.  Restrictions on moving about the train while passing through tunnels may apply.

We are unable to guarantee a forward facing seat,  depending on the number of requests we receive for any given departure.

Seats aboard The Marlborough Flyer Heritage Train can be turned to face either direction (some are fixed) The Mountaineer Train Tour has fixed seats with a centre table.

Luggage is limited to carry on only with a maximum 5kg weight.  

While on board you can access your hand luggage at any time.  

Wi-Fi is 'not' currently available onboard our Trains.
